Each child comes voluntarily to LuckyKids International Language Camp, with the consent of their parents. When children are with us, we try to ensure their maximum comfort and safety. However, there are rare cases in which children fail to adapt. Then, together with the parents, a decision can be made to terminate the stay in the camp.

Apart from the adaptation, there are other reasons for leaving the camp.

  • Emergency family situation – a family tragedy that requires the return of the child, or the birth of a brother or sister.
  • Change in family plans – interruption of the parents’ vacation, change of destination or sudden and spontaneous decision of the parents to leave.
  • Leaving due to illness – it happens that the child becomes ill during the camp. In milder diseases it is not necessary to leave.

But if the disease requires examination by a specialist, it is advisable for parents to take care of it. It often happens that the child is picked up and returned later.

None of the children in the camp makes an independent decision, because all participants in the camp are minors and under the care of a parent or guardian. In order for a child to leave, parents must confirm that they wish to terminate their stay.

In addition to the decision to terminate the stay, it is necessary for the parents to confirm the way in which the child will leave the camp. that his parents confirmed his identity in writing.

In such situations, parents can also take advantage of the Individual Transfer service for an additional fee.

The price policy of the camp gives the opportunity to return the remaining amount for the child’s stay, minus a food penalty.

When we talk about the child’s refusal to participate in the camp, except in an emergency situation, it is rare for a child to be returned after the first day. Usually the first day is organizational and dedicated to getting to know each other, and the actual camp starts from the second.

After a day or two there are rarely disappointed children. In most cases, the children are excited after this day and feel a great desire to stay until the end of the camp shift.

Therefore, we often recommend that parents who are hesitant about their stay wait 2 or 3 days before making a final decision.

When can a child decide to leave the camp on day 1?

There are several reasons that can make a child hesitate to stay in camp and in most cases they can be solved with the appropriate attitude and prior preparation by the parent.

  • Lack of camp readiness. Sometimes, in his desire to make the child more independent, the parent hurries to send him to camp. Despite our efforts, we have cases in which the child appears hesitantly at the front door.

In these situations we recommend consulting the camp team long before the start of the desired shift. We will help and recommend how the parent should act.

For the convenience of all parents, there is a suitable camp readiness test on the camp site, which can be completed and only then can the parent make a decision.

  • Shock from the English-speaking environment. Children who are not informed that they will take part in English camp may not be able to overcome the shock of the collision with the new language environment. It is extremely important for the child to be aware that all communication in the camp is performed in English and respectively to be prepared that there may be difficulties. When this is explained in advance, the stress is reduced by half.
  • Disagreement with the rules of the camp. The main rule that campers don’t like is that they can’t use mobile devices freely If children are not warned in advance, they are more likely to be upset. All campers, however, adapt to this rule in no more than 3 days.

Any rule can be a problem if it is not explained in advance. Although the camp has few rules, they are strict and followed by all. Each rule is set in order to make life in the camp peaceful and productive for all participants. If children and parents have any concerns, they can discuss them with the camp team before choosing whether to participate.

Whatever the reason, the camp team always consults the parents with the situation and helps make the final decision. None of the children is obliged to stay in the camp until the end. But if he wants to go through the whole adventure, it’s good to at least try.

Most often children leave the camp because of grief for their loved ones. For the age of 5-7 years this is not a problem, because all children of this age are accompanied. The easiest way to overcome attachment to the family is at the age of 8-10. Then it is much harder for children to adapt.

Whether they will visit our camp or someone else’s, we encourage parents to begin to adapt their children at this age. In this way, they will grow up more independent and responsible.
